Wheels need balancing or the discs are warped.

Probably not " breaking them in properly " mate.
When u put new discs on u need to be as gentle as possible with them to wear them in. Pressing the breaks hard when they r new will cause them to warp mate.

yeh the steering wheel is vibrating because the discs are warped (due to overheating them)

i would disagree with this. see here:

refer to ape's comment:

I've always bedded them in as follows:
Get up to 50 then down to 10
Get up to 60 then down to 10
Get up to 70 then down to 10
Repeat that a couple of times and then go for a bit of a drive where you won't have to stop so it gives the brakes chance to cool. Don't stop and keep your foot on the pedal mind.
Ignore anyone that says drive carefully and don't use them too much for the first 200 miles etc.
Thats a general rule of thumb, different brakes required different methods. The Brakes on my LCR for example tell me to change them, then go out on the track and use "normally". |
when i got new pads and discs on i followed this method and it bedded them in perfectly (no vibration and really sharp breaking now)
see here (for instructional video):
www.essexparts.com/lea...ost/Bed-in
also see here (informative video):
www.youtube.com/watch?v=4adZEf0f9wo
the trick is to bed them in in a controlled fashion to ensure an even transfer. just randomly using them when new can cause problems like you have
EDIT: not sure its a good idea to change the discs and not the pads as the pads are worn in to the old discs?
