hey guys, im jason and i own a 1999 1.6 206 xs
ive been having problems with the revs of the car as im travelling along, in all gears but 1st ive found she will rev really quickly upto between 2 - 3000 revs and stick there for a few seconds before revving through it and carrying on normally through the gears,
but ive found it does it in 2nd, 3rd 4th and 5th and i cant see why, i was told it could be the air filter or the sparl plugs so i changed these....

does anybody have any ideas on how to sort this out as it really dents performance throughout the gears

thanks in advance Very Happy

simple way to test clutch , stick hand break on , 5th gear, and drop clutch if it stools instantly as it should clutch is ok, if it hangs about for a secound could be clutch , other way to test, 30 mph 3rd gear then stick in 5th and put foot to floor if the revs fly up its clutch on its way out.

hope this helps.

could be the cat has collapsed in higher gears at 2000-4000 rpm is the engine is under a hell of alot of load so it might not be breathing cause of the blocked cat , also check the pipe that the airfilter is attached to if its gone weak as the engine sucks in air the pipe could be collapsing and not getting enough air into the engine.

it doesnt sound like clutch if it was it would rev freely but not go anywhere like reving more than the speed u are going

i tried the the 3rd-5th gear in 30 thing and that was fine, could possibly be the cat blocked, a friend o mine said something about the "egr valve" being blocked, or something along these lines???
