The engine used to idle a bit high, and needed a tap on the throttle to get it started. I was told that the idle control valve needed replacing.

So I did and gave it a clean at the same time.

The idle wasn't nearly as bad as it was but it still had a 'surge' every minute or so.

So I changed the full throttle body, TB heater, throttle position sensor, air temp sensor & MAP sensor but it still has the occasional surge in revs.
The revs sometimes stick around 2k RPM but it's quite rare.

Any ideas on what else it could be?

Thanks.

Edit:

Here's a video.

It cut out by itself at the end.

Nope, it does it when on idle. And at random intervals.

Ed suggested that the intake manifold may have a leak. There is a bit of a hissing.

Not all that difficult. Removed the IM from the last 206 I had in for breaking.

I'm going to give it a go tomorrow night. I'll let you know how I get on.

Was a bit of a pain but got there in the end.

Had to remove the throttle body, wiring housing, fuel rail & injectors.

This is from the 206 I'm breaking, decided to take it off the failed engine before playing with the good one.
I'll swap it to the one on the other 206 tomorrow night and see if that works, the seals look alright on this one.

On the far right in this picture is a tiny bit of silver hose,

You need to unclip it for the intake manifold to come off.

Took me about 45 mins to remove, some bolts are a bit hard to reach.

The engine breather hose?
No they always break as they get brittle with age.

i took mine apart tonight, strangely my seals look ok. but i suppose one of them could have been sucked in or something as 2 of them came off when i removed it so i couldnt see how they were fitted.

it was a bit of a mess however, dirty and grotty so ive given it a good clean and im going to get some new seals and a new throttle body seal tomorrow just to be on the safe side.

one thing that did worry me though. ran my finger aroudn the inside of the manifold and it came out black! is it normal for their to be this amount of grot lining the walls of the manifold?? engines done 65kish..

how did yours do with cleanliness?
