Just wanted to share this information with who ever may be facing the same issues. This topic has been covered in previous posts.
I bought a 1.4 auto (2005) Peugeot 206 a could of months ago and when ever I start the car the STOP sign would flash with a bong and the 2 airbag lights would come back on and stay on (not flashing). If I repeated this process sometimes twice and sometimes about 5 times the Airbag lights would go off. Sometimes it would appear to hessitate to start. The other sysmtoms included flashing of the dash lighs and sometimes even headlights when attempting to start. Having read some posts on varoius news groups I gathered the cause may be one of many. One of the comments was a faulty battery. I however checked the battery and it showed about 13.5 volts and 14.5 volts with the engine running so thought it was not the problem. But since the battery was almost 6 years old I had it changed yesterday and the problem has gone....
This was really bothering me and am sure others may feel the same.

Could also be a loose airbag wire under the seat.
Lots of things that cause the light to come one. I'll post a link if you like.

I had been having this exact same intermittent problem. Not just the airbag lights but flashing of dash lights and stop light on starting for about 2 seconds. Also the door locks would behave strangely making a noise when first opening the door after driving when it had done its crazy light show/airbag lights routine.
I had the battery tested by Halfords and it came back as good at 66%. But on further investigation I found the battery was 8 years old and pretty small for a 1.6. Having discovered this and reading your post, and a few others, I decided to change the battery and it behaves perfectly now.
Just want to say big thanks to SRI 2479 for sharing this solution!
