Just had MOT and heres the results.
1)nearside headlight incorrect colour
2)Offside headlight incorrect colour
3)nearside headlight too low
4)offside headlight too high
5)nearside front ball joint has excessive play
6)ALL 6 brake pipes on vehicle need changing.
7) Failed emssions, heres the readings:
Fast idle CO-0.54%
Second fast idle CO-0.54%.

Garage are saying it needs new catalyst.

Call that dramatic - Car I had once failed so badly they wouldn't let me drive it home as it was too dangerous!

Thats not the bad of a fail to be fair, i certainly wouldnt be asking if i should scrap or not because of those pretty small problems, the cat would be the only one that would worry me on cost.

Unless it was a small engine on 150k miles it doesn't sound look too bad to scrap it. Use your judgement and how you think the car is as a whole definately don't just do it based on the MOT

Exactly my thoughts

You could fix that for just shy of a 100quid yourself, that's only 1.5 tanks of fuel Laughing

Expensive fuel you pay then.... Razz

That would be about 1.8 for me Smile

I would only tade my car in if the work that needed doing was worth more then the car its self.

Just fix it, i spent more than that getting replacements parts, you just have to way out the amount it will cost to what the car does for you.
In my case i have spent and am still spending on my car because the car returns more saving repairing it that if i where to scrap it and buy another second hand one with no personal history.

To put this into perception

To fix your car, it would cost LESS than one of my main amplifiers Laughing
