ok maybe the wording "dramatic" is extreme to say the least.

.... however i cant help thinking that the poor guy has just been embarrassed enough to never return to this forum again.

whats happening here, i thought it was an info site for 206 ?

sorry, but ( who admittedly doesnt know a lot about cars in general , let alone 206's ) would think twice before posting in case i got flamed or ridiculed.
its not just this post, ive seen others taking the urine too.

ok rant over.. just thought we was supposed to helping each other Confused

What's the issue? He's been told exactly what he needs to do and how much it'll cost.

Just out of curiosity, what colour were your headlamp bulbs?
Mine failed for blue side light bulbs, the garage put some of their own in passed it and when I left I parked on road outside and changed them back. Cost 30p

It can fail for them if you just replace one faulty bulb with a new one. You must always replace in pairs.

oh my haha , maybe by having the p**s taken out of him for being a drama queen there wont be a post every other day on 'serious MOT failures', that will cost a few hundred and a weekends work tops.

Let the teachers deal with it, after all they are trained to deal with these problems and they don't have to mention that is was you that complained about it

Ok after reading all these comments it amuses me how people can assume that you have the knowledge/time to fix these problems. I have no idea how to change brake pipes or a catalyst, and no thats not a request for a link to a 'how to'. It failed on the bulbs due to the 'angel eye' blue led's that surround the side light and main beam. They disconnected them in the garage for me. The reason i considered the fail to be dramatic was due to the garage quoting me 1100 pound to fix all these issues. Im not very mechanically minded so wasn't gonna stand and argue the toss with a mechanic about something i have no idea about. After reading these post yeah maybe a better word could have been used but to be honest, you guys out there that fix all your own cars, and make people feel like a right tit for posting, are gonna cost this site a lot of members. All i wanted was advice on the repairs, which i got, followed mostly by ridiculing because of the wording i used!! Cheers 'guys'

Wouldn't it have been more rational to ask a few other questions first?

Such as...

"I've been quoted £1,100 to fix the following problems
1. Sad
2. Crying or Very sad
3. Sad
4. Crying or Very sad

How much should I be looking at, does that seem a fair price? "

Rather than "My car failed it's MOT for a couple of bulbs and a CAT, should I scrap it?"

And no, the people who do "fix their cars all the time" won't cost the site alot of members, as alot of members word questions in such a way as to receive a useful response, and in some cases, offers of assistance from those who have fixed a similar problem in the past.

£1100 Where did you take it Goldplated Motors.
I think the garage are taking the mick. Go into Kwikfit and ask them how much to do the job,
Did they give you a written quote, Even if they replace your headlamps with Original ones it wouldn't come to much more tan £500.
One thing to point out is that how can they check emissions if they have failed the catalyst. The 2 go hand in hand. To be honest the hardest job that needs doing is the brake lines. They were probably going to buy OEM parts. Most dare I say "back street" garages will make their own which works out a lot cheaper.
Have you used the garage before, or know anyone who has?
Steer clear of the places that offer cheap MOTs as they often fail the car on things the average person can't check and then make their money from doing the repairs.
