hi all my handbrake on my 180 need's adjusting  can anyone give me a rough guide to how its adjusted  this may sound stupid   but does the car have a drum thats at the back of the disks like some other makes and models because if it does then would i be rite in thinking that the rear disks have to come off to adjust the drum at the back of the disk as this would adjust the hand break at the same time

i own a gti180 mate so i no they do lol but i new this was going to happen some cars have both the drum at the back is to adjust the handbreak!! i wanted to no if the gti has this type of system some cars have this system some cars just on the cable near the hand break lever

is this answering my question about the gti 180? is it the same set up if u dont no what im on about with the drums at the back of the disk the more then likely u have never come across this type of breaking system, im not been funny so dont take offence

There is no drum just the disk and caliper. U can adjust them by removeing the plastic trim around the hand brake and you will see the cables with a nut to adjust it.

Its the normal old school Peugeot s**te rear disc with handbrake on the back of the caliper piston set up.
Check the handbrake mechanism in the caliper is working correctly & also that the pad's ain't seized in the caliper.

obviosly not!! hence not been funny so dont take offence . i only asked if the 180 had the drum that self adjusts its self like some other cars have as its alot bigger job to do!! disks have to come off ect ect to readjust it. and i dint wanna start the job at 3 in the afternonn sunday and end up running out of time(day light) , if its just a simple ajusting of the cable then it wont take no where near as long!

I remember those on vauxhalls, and my old Nissan 200SX - brilliant system, strong drum handbrake but with the fade resistance of disc brakes for the foot brake Made the disc a bit pricey to replace though as they also had the drum inside them!

Better to use a ratchet spanner. Makes the job a lot easier.
