i have just taken my car to get an mot in northern ireland. and it failed on 4 things.

1.the drivers seat is rocking too much, the height adjustment lever on the left at front of seat is broke)

2.whole in the exhaust.

3 the rear of exhaust has a bracket broke and the exhaust is not sucure enough,

4. excessivley worn suspension ball joint.

does any one know how i can fix the seat, as i currenlty think i need to jam some under it to stop it from rocking. or get a nbew seat.

replace the parts of exhaust will fix issues 2 and 3

how do i correct the issue about ball joint.

better get a new seat, you don't want your seat fly off the mount when you are in an accident.

new wishbone is needed.

Yes & its a pretty easy job, allow a few hours & make sure you have plenty of cable ties to rebuild the seat.

Also make sure the seat is set at the highest setting before working on it as the height adjustor will damage fingers if they get in the way as there's a big spring under the seat & they pop up pretty fast Laughing

Are the back seats easy?

I think I had the same problem with my hight adjustment. Does the lever just wobble from side to side? Mine did. You should have a loose pin in your car somewhere or it might still be in place, but not attached anymore.
I took the seat out and if I had a welder, I would have welded the pin back in place, but instead found a bolt and aluminium shim to put in place.
I don't remember the exact size anymore but i might well have been a mate bolt 50mm long. If you get the correct size aluminium tubing and cut the right length, it will fit perfectly.
I actualy bought a full interior (blue out of a glx) to replace my driver seat, but fabricating this bolt was a lot easier than swapping over the seat covers to the new frame.
I have the full interior for sale if you want it (3 door interior) there is one small cigarette burn on the rear seat. Cost me £80 (including fuel to drive to london) to get it. Happy to let you make some space in the garage for £50. Can send you pictures if you want.

I just scrapped a whole blue glx interior, no one wants them they are worth absolutely nothing seen quite a few being given away here.

On the other end of the scale you can get a gti (half leather) for around £120 with the xsi and sport models etc being cheaper than that and a 180 one for around £600.
