Lol, I did type out a reply, then I thought to myself why bother, Mr. Defensive (that's you), will only get more ratty with me and will generally not take on board the advice I'm trying to offer. I think one of the things that annoys me the most is peoples perception that a 'Euro' car is expensive to create, and they won't even look at what wheels you can pick up for not much money, but instead will settle on spending £700 on some new wheels from Halfords that 'look a little bit Euro', and basically will totally dismiss second hand wheels, maybe because they don't understand offsets, adaptors, stretch etc and can't be arsed to learn.
I wouldn't even think about smoothing really, that surely will be a big expense unless you're doing it yourself or a mate is doing you a favour! The important thing is getting the car sitting right, massively more important than any bodywork details, because that's all they are, 'details'. That black 206 I posted the pics of would still look amazing if the bodywork was standard, because it sits so well on some nice wheels. Some random middle aged bloke stopped me on a car park the other day and made the comment that I must have spent a fair bit of money on my car and said it looked really good, and I was like 'well nah I haven't really spent that much on it!', I've done the odd bit like painting the badges but it's mainly just suspension and wheels, I took a bit of time to get these two things right and it's paid off.
I'd definitely say 16's if you don't wanna go low, maybe even 17's. There's a reason why I went for 17's on my old GT actually, and I think they worked well without compromising the practicality too much.

Lol first off I would never spend £700 on wheels, let alone ones from Halfords, I've seen places online you can get BSX's for £300 brand new, and yes, the cost of smoothing would be pennies as my mate owns a garage.
I've read your comments Ross and I get what you're saying but there are only 2 wheels I would go for and I know they're overdone to hell but thats because they look good.
Maybe I should get a mod to clean this thread as it's supposed to be a project page, not "b***h about what is/isn't euro" page.

TBH I probably wouldn't have posted in this thread if it didn't contain the word 'Euro' in the title, or 'semi-Euro' if you like, because in my opinion it isn't.
BSX's do look good, afterall, they're replicas of one of the best wheel design's ever.
If you can see what I'm saying then that's all I really hoped for.... I just sometimes feel the need to try and open peoples eyes to wheel fitment/stance and how it transforms the overall look of a car, and that there's more to modified cars than cheap off the shelf wheels sitting at standard offset.

Well TBH I have no idea what offset etc... even is, I was just gonna throw them on and leave them alone lol, I don't like the ideas of stretched rubber either

Offset/ET is how far in/out the wheel sits, the higher the number the further in the wheel is. So if you had an ET25 wheel and spaced it out 10mm the new offset would be ET15. Offset is key!!
Most people on Club Lupo run stretched tyres I think lol, never hear any bad stories. And I myself have never had a problem and I occasionally drive it hard round corners. I also spoke to a tyre fitter who told me the actual amount of pressure you'd need to apply to pop the tyre off the rim is massive and you'd never get near it under cornering. Plus drift cars run stretch!

From what I've read it's a bit of a grey area, I think it's a case of if you run massive stretch/poke and you come across the wrong policeman on the wrong day then you could get pulled. That said I've not heard of many people being pulled for it. The theory though is that the actual tread of the tyre has to be under the arch, hence the stretch. With fairly mild stretch you'd be fine, and as BSX's are pretty narrow you wouldn't get a great deal of stretch anyway.

Ross: I've read your project thread and I love the stance of your car. Yeah I realise that most "euro" wheels are set for vw's and it's a bit easier to get a "euro" look with vw's imo, as they already have factory flared arches and just look fantastic when lowered right with the right offset and stretch. Even a little looks good on most mk1 or 2 golf/polo's. But back to my point, getting distracted! I have seen quite a few lovely examples of "euro" cars running similar style wheels to the lenso's, obviously I haven't seen them in the flesh or the rs5's but what I can gather from images ect. they look fairly similar. They have got a bit of a polished lip, not massive I'll admit, but enough.
They're similar to Artec 2 piece rims with the screws ect. and if I did buy them I'd try and get some with this- 9000 215/35/16 (if I can)
Also I do agree that a 40mm drop isn't euro, more sporty, which is almost opposite! But obviously Jay feels it's enough for him and what he does day to day.
I have been looking for about 3 months now in the classifieds, ebay and the like and it's been slim pickings which is why I was thinking of opting for some new, not quite as nice ones, but if you find anything on your searches PLEASE let me know as I'd love to get some!

All in all some very useful comments, and you obviously know your stuff. But I'm not a complete wheel noob, I do know a bit!

I do agree that the 206 is more difficult to Euro style mainly due to the arches, and also there's a lot less information and help around when it comes to offsets and what's possible with wheel fitment, I remember when I bought my wheels for my old 206 GT, it was a calculated guess as to how they'd sit.
I don't mind RS5's, it's one of those wheels that I thought was awesome years ago, but since really getting into the whole Euro thing and looking at BBS splits, and all the other amazing wheels out there, a wheel like the RS5 just looks so ordinary and run of the mill now, something I'd expect to see on a 17 year old's first car, chances are I wouldn't look twice. That might come across as a bit snobby, I dunno, but I guess I've just grown out of stuff like that now and my eyes have been opened to some properly stunning wheels.
I love Image splits too and live 5 mins from their factory! I've considered saving for a set, love the idea of being able to choose the exact spec. Pretty expensive though and I'm not the best at saving up for things!
Do you look on Wheel Wh0res classifieds? I check it pretty much daily, even if I'm not really in the market for some new wheels, just can't help but look lol.

Oh and I know I keep going on about it but that black 206 I posted just goes to show that you don't have to have flared arches, just a good lowering job and a good offset, to me it's a brilliant example of less is more, and what can be achieved with the 206 with little money.

Yeah that 206 is lush, I'm not going to overdo smoothing ect, even though it does improve the look but only if you go all out, but I simply don't have the funds to spend!
I agree about the rs5's, like I said not as nice but right for the style (kinda) to be fair there a temporary fix until I can find some which are right for me. Although doing that I could wait to just buy some more expensive wheels (lack of funds again!) but I cannot stand the sirrocos I have on atm.
Yeahh I do check WW quite regularly, I almost bought some schmidt modern lines a few months ago but on inspection they were buckled!  (SO ANGRY)
Tell you what we should organise a raid of the factory as I'm only 20 mins away from Dudely!
