I have this CD player in my 206:

..the problem is that after around 20 seconds of it playing a song the CD player then stops or pauses. I can get it to play again by either turning the CD player off and then back on again, or by ejecting the disc and re-inseting it - but it'll still only play for around 20 seconds.

The radio on the other hand works perfectly. So I find myself unable to listen to my CD's at the moment so I'm tuned into Radio1 full time.

This all started last week, I remember going over a rather large pto hole before this problem occured, so I imagine this has had something to do with all of this..

I've pulled the CD player out to check if any wires at the bck were loose or had fallen out but they were all tightly fitted.

Any ideas about this? Can this be fixed, or will I be purchasing a new CD player?
Any help will be greatly apprieciated!

Heya mate, same thing happened to mine not got same player but I brought a lens cleaner disk and that sorted it out, you can get them dead cheap worth a go! If that does not work I reckon the lens may be damaged as you hit that pot hole

Agree with ryan - the damage will more than likely be the lens out of alignment which frequently happens with these units. I can recommend someone to fix if the lens cleaner bears no fruitful results, but throw a score on top of the repair bill and you will have yourself a nice new branded unit....

Just get an aftermarket headunit. You can pick em up cheap off eBay and take minutes to fit.

lens isnt scanning over the disc correctly. have you tried skipping through the tracks during the 20 seconds its playing, it might sort itself out. most likely it needs to be repaired though, annoying i know but best bet would be to get a replacement form ebay if you want to keep the same head unit or just get an aftermarket one

this may not work... but for example take a xbox 360 sometimes gets dust over the lens try using a hoover, it worked for me on a few accasions. probs best to tackle it from the back of the head unit. potentionally a quick fix?
