Hello to all first time on the site and what a great site. I have a 2001 GTi which has a habbit of dropping out of 3rd gear. Happens mainly on tight bends or round a bouts. Though it can happen under deceleration.
Any ideas please

could be worn linkages/gearbox mount or more seriously a stuffed syncromesh in the box.

Check the engine/gearbox mountings, excess play could allow too much engine/gearbox movement and cause the linkage to pull a neutral.

Thanks, I thought linkage, selector fork or syncro. I have a spare gearbox so I am taking it to a garage to check all mounts and linkage failing that new gearbox and clutch to be fitted.
