Managment light came on a while ago, took it to my local garage they put it on the analysis machine (is that what it's called!) and that gave them a code which told them it was the first sensor on the exhaust, so they fitted a new one £90 that cured it for a while anyway, three weeks later bleep the managment light comes back on again on a 10 mile journey, any ideas why this has happened again!!!!

Is the car driving fine? Have you noticed the car not driving normally?

Fault codes some times show up different codes, it might have been the lamda sensor, you sure they changed it and not just reset the light, you physically had a look?

I'd take it back to the garage that allegedly carried out the work. But I bet they say it's a diffrent fault. Next time ask for the old part & get them to show you what they've replaced.

Yes I can see it its a brand new sensor they fitted, they told me the price range was from about £40 for a cheapy up to £140 for a genuine peugeot one, I paid £90 for what I thought was a good quality pattern part, also the car drives fine no difference there what so ever.

Cant remember what the code was now, (he did show me) and then refered the number to a book which he also showed me that told us it was the the exhaust sensor (the first one)

TBH lambda sensors area funny thing, in theory they should never fail, however they are made internally from ceramic. There is always a reason why a lambda sensor (like a cat) fails, but noone ever bothers to find out why its failed. The fault code will say its the lambda, or a fuel mix ratio problem.... blah blah blah. they dont 'just break', has your car been overfueling, misfiring, over heating? It might not be worth throwing another one at it, because the same thing will happen again, for that sorta money id expect it to be a bosch or NGK unit, either are as good as the OE unit, so it should still be fine. I dont mean there's no possibility of them becoming faulty, but theyre bot OE suppliers so they know what they are doing is right.
