Cars coming along nicely Ross...mega thumbs up Thumb Up

Interiors definately unique. But I think a Momo Team 280 is needed to finish the interior off nicely..? Wink

Cheers mate. As much as I like those Momo wheels I wouldn't want to be without the airbag! I'd rather get something like a mk5 GTI wheel or something Smile

Always liked this Ross. Judging from your interior..and a photoshop I remember you having had, you could go for red alloys? Would give you're car a great overall theme. That said I quite like the current wheels in black. Nicely done sir Smile

Sorry peeps, only just seen these recent replies Smile , thanks for the compliments!

Resolutionary, red wheels are still very much on the cards, my rear tyres are getting a bit low on tread on the insides due to the camber, so I'm thinking that I should get the wheels refurb'd at the same time as changing the tyres. I think I mentioned before that I need new valves in a couple of the wheels aswell so it would make sense to get everything done at the same time. I'm a bit scared about going for red though still! I think it looks really good as it is which is why I'm apprehensive about changing it up, I always get good comments on the red wheel lips aswell. I just fancy a change though I guess!

Oh and I fell in love with the GT3RS on Top Gear the other day, similar colours... (I'd look into having my mirrors sprayed red aswell)

Oh and I'm glad to see the back of the snow, because as I found out, negative camber on ice is no fun at all, I've never felt a car move around like mine was on a straight road. I actually thought there was a problem and even checked all my wheel nuts were tight when I got home Shocked .

I was regularly ploughing the snow in the middle of the road aswell lol, quite funny, didn't sound great but doesn't appear to be any damage done Smile

No changes, but decided to break out the Poorboys Black Hole yesterday, and it seemed rude not to take a couple of pics afterwards Rolling Eyes Very Happy

I've decided it's time to finally face up to my headlight issue once and for all, because if I'm honest I've been putting it off for a while. So I gave VW a ring during the week just to check the price of a new xenon headlight.... £620, and yes, I did just say six hundred and twenty pounds, it's not a typo! For the whole headlight minus the ignitor unit it's £306, meaning the ignitor unit is a whopping £314. So I've started saving. I think it's the ignitor that's gone, but also the casing at the back of the light is damaged and I'm getting a lot of condensation in it just lately which looks crap, so I think I'm just gonna bite the bullet and buy the whole lot!

Cars looking as awesome as always...cracking buy on that leather. Thats the first one I've seen, so must have been an expensive optional extra.

Shame about the headlight...My Dad had to fork out £900 direct from Germany for each headlight on the SL when he had it all done with the xenons etc, Merc here wanted £1500 a piece.

Give someone a call who can get hold of stuff direct from Germany as it'll cost you alot less then it's meant to.

Cheers Smile

Xenons are great when they're working, and a bloody headache when they're not, in my experience. That said I do wonder if the more mass produced cars out there have cheaper xenons as the headlights will be mass produced so they're made in bulk and therefore cheaper.

That's madness about the SL ones, £1500 for a headlight! Shocked

Are the headlights exactly the same though for the LHD cars? I thought the beam pattern was set up differently, ie, opposite to the RHD models?

It is completely an utterly stupid with prices.

With the lights coming direct from Merc over there he asked for RHD ones. German carry both hand drive car parts.

Thanks mate, and yeah, tell me about it lol.... well not necessarily BBS actually, but split rims most definitely! Love BBS RM and RS but there's more than a few GTI's running them so I guess it would be nice to go for something different, it all depends what comes up for sale though when I have the money TBH!

Once I've got this headlight issue sorted I should be able to spend some money on mods again Smile

Saw a Lupo GTI today with it's xenon's on, they look so nice Laughing , I think I'll be paranoid that the other side might go once I've sorted this one though, knowing the costs and hassle Laughing

Had a good cleaning session last weekend, and today I washed it and gave it another coat of wax:

It's hard to tell, but that last photo is one with both headlights on, yes, at long last I now have two working headlights once again!

There is quite an embarrassing story behind it though, kinda kicking myself Laughing . I picked up the headlight yesterday morning, at a cost of £559 (VW agreed to give me 10% discount when I told them I'd found it cheaper elsewhere), got home, fitted it, didn't work. So then I went back to square one and checked the fuses again, and you can probably guess what I'm about to say.... all along, it was a blown fuse Embarassed . Turns out I'd checked the wrong fuse in the first place, so all this time, all I would have had to do was buy a fuse for less than a quid, and instead I've paid nearly 600 quid for a new headlight Embarassed . I do wonder why the garage I took it to never checked the fuses though.

It's not all bad though, as part of the reason I bought the new headlight was because the back of the old one was damaged ever so slightly, which is what I reckon was causing condensation. So the plan is now to see if VW will have the ignitor unit back as I don't need it, which is worth the best part of £300.

Just so glad to have it sorted out now as it's dragged on for so long, I'm driving around in the daytime with my headlights on at the minute, loving it Laughing .

Only other changes are that I've took all the stickers out of the back window, fancied a cleaner look so now just have the WW heart. Also I replaced the red lip tape on the back wheels as it was looking a bit worse for wear, and after the first journey most of it fell off, so I ended up pulling the lot off! The wheels might be getting refurbished in the not too distant future anyway.
