Hi guys, Im currently in the middle of trying to change my gear linkages on my 1.4 lx 1999 but the thing is, the small (6inch) linkage thats highest (e.g closest to bonnet) has broken when i removed it and now the joint that the ball sits in is stuck on the ball if that makes any sense! the linkage is out but the joint is stuck on the ball! dont know how else to describe it! Anyway ive got no idea how to get it off and have worked up a right sweat trying! Help please guys!

Happened to mine couple of years ago, had to replace them with metal ones because one of the plastic ones kept slipping off. When replacing one of the others, it snapped and left the socket bit on the ball if that's what you mean?

Got someone to do mine for me... just gripped it tightly with some pliers and yanked it off with quite a bit of force!!

Lever it off with a spanner on top of another spanner. Or large molegrips/pliers.

hey guys thanks for the info, theyre metal with a rubber coating. After over an hour of trying, all it took was some knipex grippers! the long handled ones. gripped it hard and just twisted and it popped straight off! So ive fitted my new rocker cover aswell while i was under the bonnet and now its chill out time..:-) Joni
