I drove my car in to the city today and my mum drove it back (i'm on a provisional atm) which was about 50 miles and it was running perfectly, couldnt fault it one bit but then apparently when she dropped to down to second for a roundabout the car started spluttering and shaking, and couldnt get past 2nd gear as it would just stall if put in any higher.
Called the AA man out, he checked the diagnostics and could not find any fault in the car, he thinks it something like the coilpack, HT leads of the distributer cap etc.
I just got home, starter her up and it sounds like a bloody tractor, terrible throttle response, the engine itself is jumping about so much and she is running on 3 cylinders by the sound of it which is probably why it is moving about so much.
Personally I think it is the coil pack but what do you guy think???
Any help is reallllly appreciated, I just want my car back up and running :/

P.s. Also there was a really strong smell of something singeing which none of us can really get our head around where it came from :/

First change the spark plugs. No 206 has HT leads or a distributor by the way Wink

Then if that doesn't solve it put a new coil pack on it.

No HT or distributer...great Smile
It has Bosch super 4s in at the moment and I have a spare set sitting here which is handy, if it is not the sparks then must it be the coilpack or is there anything else???

misfire could cause by many thing. but spark plug and coilpack is always a good started. injector could be one of the reason too.

Unbolt the fuel rail.
Pull the injectors up & have someone turn the key so that the fuel pump primes. You should be able to see them squirting fuel.

I'm sure someone had a similar problem a few weeks ago and the timing belt had jumped on the sprocket. I can imagine the AA guys face when he was looking for the HT leads. I would get it checked for fault codes again, as it seems he didn't have a clue anyway.

Well my dad wants to get a new coil pack as he is 100% that it is the problem so where would I get 1 to fit a 1.1 2002 Look??? Razz

Eurocarparts, GSF or Peugeot.

Avoid Sagem ones.

Changed the spark plugs and no change :/, dads gonna try and go to eurocarparts tomorrow if he gets time to get a new coilpack.
Out of the ones we took out, plug 1 was fine, plug 2 was black but the soot just rubs off, plug 3 was fine but plug 4 was soaked in petrol so I think cylinder 4 is misfiring. Not sure why plug 2 was sooty tho :/,

sooty plug means bad combustion.

could be weak spark, fault injector or low compression

Do yourself a favour and don't run the engine until it's fixed. Misfiring engines have a habit of causing the cat to meltdown, as it cannot cope with high levels of unburnt fuel. You could just be heading to more expense.
