Can the above be done?
I need a new axle for my gti, but I'm struggling to find one local and at a good price.

I would buy a recon, but I don't intend on keeping the car too much longer, otherwise I would.

I see the drum ones are common, and reasonable cost.

easy, you just need to swap the trailing arm

Don't you have the remove the arb and torsion bars to swap the trailing arms?

yes, you will have to remove both

aparently he want to replace his damaged disc axle

by swap the trailing arm then he could potentially get the cheapest axle avalible in the market

yes, a few tap from a hammer will knock the arms off

It knocks quite abit. I'm guessing it's the bushes?

where knocks a bit?

Any play in the arms? If there isn't then its not the bushes...

Check its not something stupid like exhaust hitting something or the spare wheel cage as that happens to quite often rattle
