Looking for a bit of advice.
Had a reconditioned unit fitted, however the car will not start with reconditioned comms unit fitted.
I sent chassis number and reg to supplier to ensure i purchased correct part.
When the old comms unit refitted it starts fist time.
When i had it fitted i gave garage spare key not fob key could this make any difference?,
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

That's what i thought, however i will not start.
Have been advised to have the key recoded but don't know if that would make a difference.

i don't think the comm unit in the 206 has any links to the immobiliser system.
perhaps the recon unit has a short in the wiring?

Pre 2001 don't.
The comm unit on models after that control wipers, lights, immobiliser and anything else they could attach i think.

Yeah I gunna go with Skard and say the recon one is dodgey because the Com's are interchangable and nothing to do with the immobilser or starting the car.
Dodgey com sending wrong signals to the BSI, will put it into some sort of protective mode and cause problems.

That sounds like the right one.
On the recon unit it had a sticker on the back about 10 numbers and letters, i just wanted to make sure they had provided me with unit 6242E9.
