Reet being my dopey usual self I changed the coolant on my car about 3-4 days ago. During the process of refilling, I forgot to open the bleeder ports on the matrix and engine. I realised what I had done only the day after so before driving anywhere I opened the matrix bleeder and no air came out just a steady flow of coolant. I can't seem to find a bleeder on the engine but there is a return pipe that always has a little trickle of water coming through back to the header tank. Any way it's been fine since then, no heater going cold then warm or no engine going bang, jus my only worry is I have a 300 mile drive on Tuesday next week and I'm worried it might air lock or somthing baaad! Can someone reassure me it will be ok or point me in the right direction of what to do?
Thanks
Oh it's a 1.4 HDI btw thanks

In all fairness if you have had coolant coming from the matrix end and its returning water to the header, its probably ok.

I'm no expert on the 1.4 hdi but i would of expected to see a bleed screw on the thermostat side but could be wrong

let it run up to temp, get it nice and hot and see if the fan cuts in as normal if it does all will be well

If in doubt, drop a cog and put your foot down Smile

yeah i know what you mean, it takes ages but when i was in the trade we would never let a peugeot/citroen diesel leave the garage after work on cooling system without the fan cutting in!!

Probably has come on becuase the coolant dropped a little and I topped it up, something I heard about a valve opening?

yeah the thermostat, when it opens the level will drop slightly especially when just refilled

get the engine really hot and the fan will come on that will be proof its ok

If in doubt, drop a cog and put your foot down Smile

To be fair you can probably get away with not bleeding them, more often than not it ends up blowing the air back round if it's only a little bit.
Don't argue the opinions of idiots.
They will bring you down to their level and win through experience.
