All this came about when the genius MOT testers decided to add 2+2 together and came up with 5.
Ever since I bought this car 2nd hand with only <40k on the clock, the back tyres have been suffering with inner edge abnormal tyre wear on the tread.
The above image shows a dark/light/dark/light pattern on the inner edge of the back tyres. These show the wear with around 1-2mm difference between the dark and light areas.
The mechanic/MOT tester assured me this was caused by the trailing arm bearings worn, which causes the tyre to oscaillate whilst driving, but months before this, I asked a ATS guy on the phenomenon and he assured me that this was just a attribute of all low profile tyres.
Unable to argue with the tester and a DVLA refusal in hand, I knew the bearings needed doing.
The tyres you see above are the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D2s (which are the recommended brand by Peugeot for the car as referred to in the handbook).
Seeing as the car has done low mileage and theyre fitted to the rear (which hardly wear), I assume these are the factory fitted units.
Since ownership, I've changed the fronts for Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s as 2s cant be courced for love nor money.
I would put it down to the bearings as promised, but a keen eye to my misses SportKa confirmed my thoughts. Its just nothing to do with the bearings!
The same size of tyre, (be it a different make altogether) but the same tyre abnormality!
Anyone else suffer this problem with their original tyres!?

Good suggestion, but the Ka doesnt have a rear axle.

too much neg. camber. i presume you can adjust the camber on a Ka?

And how do you adjust the tracking on a rear axle when it doesnt have adjustable tie rod ends!?

are you talking about 206 or what?
on 206 no, you can't.
no idea what is a Ka.
first thing is get the tracking check, without knowing the camber, toe and caster no one whould know what is happening.

neither ka or 206 have tracking at the rear as neither steer from the rear. tracking more or less means steering.

Tyre pressures are fine, and despite a drop in pressure wouldnt cause some treads to wear and others not.

Ka alignment was checked months back and confirmed that was wildly out, only because of a front offside tyre worn on the inside and full tread on the outside.
I'm talking about both cars in this thread as they have the same problem YET have completely different syspension setups and different makes of tyres.
The rear Ka is shock and spring setup with a single wishbone and drum brake.
Thus proving it cant just be suspension wear/problem related.
The only similarity is the tyre size and profile.

Looks like my rear tyre tbh,
My axle has gone so bad that it it has 10mm camber at the top on the knackered side and a nice pattern like that on the tyre, You also get to see a lot of wobble going on on the slightest bump so she is off the road till pay day when i should be getting her sorted (Fingers crossed)
Could be the wheel bearing going in the hubs, as you say the suspension is different but the bearings would cause an identical problem.
Or could just be coincidence

This is normally caused by worn rear shocks and Goodyears are prone to wearing like this, Because the wheel is bouncing it causes this uneven wear. There is no way you can adjust the rear tracking on either car and camber wouldn't cause the tyres to wear like that.
