are the hdi's prone to HGF? i'm really quite intrigued as to what i'll find when i get it to bits!

no idea, that is the first time i have heard about a blown gasket on a 206 HDi

Breakthrough, the rads cold at the bottom!

I've just repalced the thermostat, took it for a run and checked it, still boiled over, but... the bottom 2/3 of the rad is cold and i'm starting to suspect it's rotting inside out at the bottom after noticing some crumbly fins above the bottom outlet, hopefully this hasn't done the head!

If the rad isn't blocked then the water pump may have failed and not be circulating but i'll be replacing it along with the cambelt in the following weeks anyway!!

very very very excited to think it's not the head!!!

pics and either happy or sad faces to follow

thanks everyone thats put in thier opinions/advice along the way!!

block coolant pipe/ radiator maybe? are all the pipes and radiator warm after a run?

What He Said

i presume is blockage rather than a fail pump.

blockage cause overpressure. fail pump don't.
