Hey guys, my sister just came home saying that a stop warning light keeps flashing on the dash when shes driving and sometimes when shes pulled up.

We went straight back out and turned the car on and sure enough the engine turned over and on came the red flashing warning light saying STOP.

I also noticed that it sounded like a hoover had just been started underneath the bonnet, but a lot louder. Is this related? If not, what is it the fan kicking in or something?

Cheers guys!

Codes read? :S It's a warning light that reads S T O P in red under the speedo bits and it flashes... Then there's the hoover sound... :S

There will probably be a fault code registered. You need to get the codes read so that you can identify the problem, then get the code reset so that it doesn't keep warning you

How do I get this fault code read? Does this mean that its not anything serious? Just something going a bit stupid with the computers/an overeactive warning light?

The Stop sign can appear for a few reason's but it generally mean's something is wrong, In order to see what's wrong you get the code's read or at least take it to a garage.

Ahh I see. It seems like its a dodgy connection or something related to the fan, because I went out and turned it over again for the 3rd time now, and the light wasnt there and neither was the loud fan noise. I think it's something shorting or somethnig dirty or dodgy thats telling the fan to go nuts. Very intermittent as I've never noticed it until now and now its gone again Neutral

THis could be a simple fix....Have you check you brake fluid? If it is low the stop light will flash when you are driving.

If low you will need to top using DOT 4 but all so check for leaks as well around the wheels

DOT 4 is the brake fluid and you should use that

Does the engine temp rise when driving? The fan might not be kicking in and so its overheating.
Mine recently did this as the wiring at the front near the fan was corroded.

Its fine now.

Just popped out quickly. 5 minutes driving, pulled up 5 mins idling, warning light comes up. After another 5 or so mins it goes away. 5 minute journey home and dad thought to check temperature. Engine temp was above the 90 C mark and opened the bonnet and the heat was crazy for such a shirt journey! Here I am just spotted this post and you come out with that lol! It sounds right to me as it's the same thing my dad reckoned too Very Happy

How did you fix it in the end?
