hi folks,i replaced the driverside driveshaft on my sons 1999,1.1 motor ,4 weeks ago as it was badly cracking on full lock.that driveshaft did exactly the same and i know that the shaft was ok post installation and started to doubt wether they are the same size.this week i aquired another shaft from a breaker and it looked exactly the same.on fitting the shaft, the car on full righthand lock it is now rubbing the inside of the steel wheel(where the balancing weights would be located)and the trackrod end...have i reassembled correctly....i think i have...or is there a few driveshafts that have different dimensions.tia ps,it drives ok apart from this.

what model did it come off? the 1.1 and 1.4 are the same! are you sure it was the driveshafts and not the CV joints? how bad were the gaiters?

1.6 are smaller

1.6 16v are even smaller

Talking about the short driveshaft passenger side

this is the long passenger side, when the car was bought ,i noticed that the cv was cracking although the boot was in perfect condition ,so i got a replacement shaft and the same problem persisted.so i then got another out of a 1.1 and this one on full righthand lock is rubbing the wheel rim on the trackrod end,i am baffled as i am sure it is the correct shaft.HELP!!!!

Did you do up the 11mm bolts tight? That hold the shaft bearing in?
