Just had the timimg belt done on 27th but within 2 days the car seems to have drunk £15 worth of petrol when i normally get 5 days out of it .

I use 60 a month in my gti but thats because it only gets used at the weekend, I use about 200 a week in diesel in my work van Sad bad times Sad especially when garages are charging 146.9 a litre Sad

i drive a gti 138 and i think mine gulps quite a fair bit.

what could i do to help in efficiency.
i have a light foot, but i think something under the bonnet isnt in a good state.

My 1.1 i only use £20 thats 100 mile drive to work each day. 32 takimg mrs to work and back. Then every where ede i want to go. Think i do alreeet.

i struggle 500 miles out my 2.0 hdi no matter what i try... usually 460 - 480 miles.. but i go through 65 a week in diesel Sad my gti used to go through 50-55 a week in petrol and manage just around 300 miles

Give it a good service.

Ensure tyres are correctly inflated.

Change gear at the correct point, not too high nor low.

Avoid stop-start driving if possible. Smile

out of interest tom how many miles do you get to a tank do you get? just until the light comes on.

but for about 40litres. i get about 450-480kms on average
