No.

Later cars have 2 x lambdas. Which car has more power I have no idea. I believe RFN coded cars might actually be 136bhp and the early ones 137/138bhp.

multiplexing adds 1bhp to the GTi, that's all you need to know Eddie Laughing
it also made it faster accelerating and more economical, if 1mph slower.
maybe the gearing was changed? or compression ratio?
it appears that it was to do with emissions

reem Thumb Up

I got a dig bick.

okay
was the later engine RFR? If so they are multiplexed and are 138bhp.
pre-multiplexed cars have 137bhp and are 1mph faster.

Read my first post and you'll find earlier GTi's were RFR coded. You can get multiplexed and conventionally wired RFN's!

Multiplexing has nothing to do with engine outputs.

Multiplexing has nothing to do with engine outputs.

from Peugeot-psa website

"The 206 GTi was available in UK showrooms from 01 June 1999.

The GTi was originally 137bhp but when multiplexing was introduced(11 Oct 2001 onwards) it produced 138bhp. The pre-multiplexed GTi's have higher emissions, so you will probably pay more roadtax"

Well you can get Y plater 138 GTi's that were non-multiplexed that have the same emissions as multiplexed cars. The statement quoted is inaccurate.

Eddie. Let's call it quits?
Neither engine has ever been 137bhp or 138bhp from factory anyway Laughing

Early GTI's had the aerial at the front of the roof as opposed to the rear. And display on dash does not tell you station on early version, unless the display on the missus' car is knackered.
