I see that 2002 onwards engines were fitted with an "automatic" tensioner.

What's the difference in the fitting procedure to the manual version outlined in the Haynes manual and the how-to on here. I assume fit belt, release tension, turn engine a couple of full rotations buy hand and check tension. But no adjustment as such?

Cheers

Steve

Think you are talking about a dynamic tensioner

Just had a spring loaded system that locks against a lug on the block. The arrow on the tensioner is aligned with the slot on the tensioner and job done.

The tensioner moves back and forward to apply the correct tension to the belt

206 180 rally car in progress. I may not be perfect but there are parts of me that are f£%$ing brilliant

Yes that's the type - is this the same as the 1.4 16V engine (which haynes does describe = same block aren't they?)
