so after months and months to my parents about the timing belt needing changed in our car, guess what happened today when i had it for school. Just had a mechanic out to confirm it to them and they automatically asked him how i managed to do that Rolling Eyes lol.

anyway long story short their getting the bill to fix it after the mechanic had a go at them so how much do u guys reckon all in??? also the mechanic said we might be lucky that the valve might not have hit the piston but i dont think thats the case.

feel free to bet on how many valves need replaced Laughing

If anything needs replacing, it's probably cheaper to just put a new engine in tbh, they are so damn cheap.

yea iv tried telling my parents that but they dont see the logic Confused there way of seeing things is how can a full engine be 150-200 if fixing an old one is near 300 lol

if it was me id be out getting an engine sorted for it now rather than getting it stripped and quotes drawn up but there's no telling them so looks like its gonna get fixed if the block hasnt been cracked in which case they probably would think about writing the car off Laughing

if i was to do an engine swap i would go for 1.4 min but the insurance and log book changes dont make it a good idea lol

Ouch - 59K on a 2002 1.1 here and no record of a previous change - already planning to do in two weeks time, when daughter is away.

Official interval is 80K/4years isn't it (reccomended at 60K though).

Unless you call Pug, I called around getting quotes for mine, when I called them they said 80k or 8 years, I was like errrrrr ok I'll go elsewhere thanks! lol

yea we only got the car at the end of 2009 so really should have been done before the car but everything in the logbook was all stamped by dealers but it looks like the previous owner didnt take too good care of it.

Just had mine replaced at 92,000 kms. Handbook recommended 80k or 4years so I was a bit over. $275 at the Peugeot garage which I thought was very cheap but they got me when I picked her up when they said the water pump was leaking and replaced it. Would of been nice to tell me first. Anyway it's done now and it's for sale as I am planning to lease a car. Crying or Very sad

you almost always get the water pump done when the belts done anyway because if it goes it causes the belt to come off/snap. If they didnt do it your new belt would of most likely broke anyway.

The water pump costs almost nothing extra to do ontop of that job because all of the parts are off for doing the belt.

I've read a lot of posts on here lately from people having their timing belts go just before they planned on getting them changed anyway. Glad I moved my booking forward and it's all done!
