Just wanting to know what is the best way to tackle this; I've fitted the griffith QS previous with no problems.

Is it easier from the engine bay or underneath the car?

Both.
Take out the battery tray for better access.

Do it from above.

As Chris has said take the battery tray out as well for ease of access but have a look at my XSi progress blog to give you an idea of how far I went to make it easy for me to fit mine.

there is more than enough room with just taking the battery tray out mate, and changing the linkages is easy enough. Just make sure you do them one at a time so you know what goes back where, and match the linkage removed to one of the new ones to ensure you use the correct one Smile

Can hardly see the smaller linkages when I had the battery tray etc out to do the QS. Is it a matter of feeling around for them or what?

Also I need to ensure the respective lengths are identical correct?

I dont what to d**k about taking the battery out, and then having to put the batterry back and drive up on ramps. So it should be ok with access from above only?

Many thanks.

Job done.

Anyone considering doing this mod should not hesitate. Huge difference to feel of gear selection for very little money. The gearbox feels like that of an S2000 (honda). Very straight forward install, save as to few scapes on my hands.

Isn't the GTi 180 gearbox different to the 138? Thus not being able to do this mod?

Because I wanna do it Sad

I would like one just not too sure on the extra strain the gearbox would take. The box is on 104,000

Why would it take any extra strain? The only difference is the old has rubber bushing.
