Yeah it does have EOBD. Tell the guy to test to see if there is power going to the port, and spray some contact cleaner on it. Be better off scanning it with a better tool like peugeot planet, multi diag, bosch kts, or a high end snap-on or sealey tool that will scan things like ABS and Airbags as well

Exactly. Amazing how many people think it is though.
It's OK for very high tension (high voltage) circuits but never use it on
modern electronics or regret it bitterly later-on.

Hi All!
Just to give you an update! My brother finally (after two weeks!!) decided to listen to you all (and me) and check the fly wheel sensor. It's mega broken, so that's good news
Next query - when we took the sensor out, it came out with a bit of metal attached to it (I haven't seen this, it's just what my brother said). I'm guessing this could be a bearing or something??
Anyways, its off to the garage next week to get the clutch and sensor done, so I'm sure they'll check the bearings and stuff then.
Thanks for your help

Heard back from the garage now! The clutch kit has been replaced and the fly wheel sensor also replaced. Car is driving like a dream
They found a handful of bearings rolling around, and various bits of metal which looked like they might have once been bearings too. The sensor was completely screwed.
£265 lighter and all fixed.. finally can enjoy the car for a bit
