Quick detailer will enduce light swirls, which I don't want. It'll be well waxed mind you but still, I'm pretty sur several flies hitting the front of my car for 6 hours is going to go some way to reduce the protective properties of the wax. It'll save quite a bit of time too. I might just go with the 3m tape.

Very true Brian, i wouldnt suggest using a QD to remove bugs if your anal about your paint work like a few of us are Laughing Well it could be ok if your VERY carefull when removing them, with regards to the cling film it should be ok if you have a decent amount of LSP on.

Alternativly cover all pannels in bed sheets and tape down underneath Laughing

PM me for Valeting & Detailing services at great rates!

i suggested the QD as a restorer after using a citrus wash to remove the flies.

alternativly Brian why dont you try doing a sealant wax combo? at least then the protection wouldnt be an issue because you have the two types on it? only other option really is a gimp mask?

Why wouldn't you seal then wax? I thought you were a detailer? Laughing I always use sealant/pre-wax cleanser of some form to aid the bond.

I'll have a few test runs with the ol' clingfilm. Last year i made my own bra out of bubble wrap and 3m tape, but it blew about in the wind because I had to chop it short over the front of the bonnet because of the latch, so it didn't really work! Bubble wrap of course acting as the stone chip door men: "naw pal, no gettin past here!" Laughing

Bed sheets is a nice idea but i think that they'd flap about too much at 60-70mph! I WILL think of something and will NOT buy a bonnet bra!

How about getting sheets of really thin foam around 60mm and try that with 3m tape? You could then shrink wrap/cling film that aswell, Ive seen a similar thing done in marine detailing using foam blocks and shrink wrap. I cant see it will blow about much because it will be pretty tight, if my front end wasnt so stone chipped already id be doing this method I fancy.

I might employ an asylum seeker to cling to the front of my car, that will do the job!

how rude! lol i didnt know how much you were into detailing brian as some people on here would jsut wash then wax all year long! hell not even wax!

im currently in the process of talking to my dad about the white plastic sheeting you see on the brand new cars on low loaders going to dealers.

he's gonna see if i can get a few roles ( probably about 3 or 4) if i do then its first come first served!
