Took my pug to the garage yesterday , the same problem the car is cutting out . He keeps saying he cant figure out what the problem is , this well maybe true. I have shelled out so much money for this car in the past 4 months it makes my eyes water The mechanic im sure has paid for his next holiday with my cheese !!!
I gave him 180 today , and guess what driving back home the phlegm coloured pug cut out on me again!!!
I have told the mechanic since day one it might be the coil pack or the idle valve . When it cuts out the engine light comes on. Everytime he looks at the car and driven it around for supposedly hours he says nothings wrong with it and there are no fault codes recorded. All that has come up is the relay ??
Anyway after driving back from him it cuts out. I am absolutely livid !!! I told him the car felt like it was dragging when he handed it back to me and said it felt fine to me.
Well like i said it was still dragging and of course it stopped whilst at the traffic light and whilst mobile.
I have had enough of this biscuit ???
Its driving me nuts , after i ring him to tell him its cut out on the way home he then decides to tell me that yes it might be the idle valve and because the light has come on , which it has done every single time it has cut out he is now saying there should be a reading on it.
Anyone out please help , i am going mental !!!!
I am getting rid of this car soon as i can but i would just like one more chance of sorting the bloody mess its in.
Im sorry if i am ranting and raving and not making much sense but i need to go and chill and have cigarette in a second or two !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think he means he gave the mechanic 180 notes, not that his car is a 180, I could be wrong though!

Model and year?
Try changing the plugs to Bosch and get a Siemans coilpack.

I had a cutting out problem in the 1.4 i had under the ecu there is a big black relay change that , that was the cause off all the problems that 3 garages including pug was unable to fix.

Any fault codes showing up?
Just a bit of a thought, if you think you know what the problem is (coilpack and ICV), why not have a go at changing the parts yourself and save a few quid.

Hi all
( i am a she bye the way namjag and seabrook although if i had a pair of balls !!!)
Anyway yes it is completely stupid of me to have kept on giving him money . To be honest i thought he was a decent chappie to begin with , i went to him because he was on the goodgaragescheme and a specialist in pugs.
I meant my last visit on the day it cut out cost me 180 smackeroonies !! But i have given him hundreds over the months .
He changed the relay , still cut out, mentioned something about the map sensor and realised it was not. I mentioned the valve awhile back and he said no.
He said there was no reading being left but then all of a sudden like i said when i drove the car back it cut out and when i spoke to him he said there would be a fault code left on it because the engine mana. light came on and it could be the idle valve . But im like well the lights been coming on all the time when it cuts out !!!!
Anyhoo my car is a v reg 1999
Is the map sensor easy to get too so i can dust it ? The coilpack veywie veywie big !! I tried cleaning the valve but couldnt manage it .
Anyone know anyone on here or elsewhere who can sort these things out ?i would be willing to pay !!!
The pug is grounded for at least 2 weeks just to get the funds up a bit.
Once i get this sorted i am selling it ...
Its lovely looking inside and out but its an impossible bugger at the minute .
EEk i thought the only pugs having problems were pre 2002 !!!
Oh yes im trying to find the section that helps you put images on and i cant find it, what should i look for please
