If anyone could help me with the following issues I'd be truly grateful. I havent a clue where to start!
Some of these problems may be easily fixable but I would prefer to put it out there as opposed to go to a garage and get spun a good line!!
1. Cigarette Lighter doesnt work - therefore cant charge satnav (which is annoying). Is this just a simple fuse problem perhaps?
2. Rattle coming from the boot. I'm led to believe this is common and that it could be the boot catch?? Is this a full replacement / easy to do?
3. Fuel guage - shows its 1/4 full but red light is on. Again - I've been told this is another common problem. Do i need to buy a new fuel sender or is there a "quick fix"?
Better still - if anyone is in the Cheshire area and fancies a project for some extra cash that would be great! haha.
Thanks
Ashley

For ciggy lighter check the fuses, get a multimeeter on the wires and check all connections.
Get the spanners out and see if you can tighten the boot catch or reseat it see if that cures it.
And I think the fuel guage is a software update (Someone please correct me if im wrong).

Most likely a fuse, check under the drivers side and see if any are broken.

What sort of rattle? Check everything is tight but it could be the spare wheel cage make sure it's not got much / if any movement in it.

Does the needle move? If the needle still works fine but the light always comes on that's a bit odd wouldn't know what to suggest.

1 - Could be a fuse, they go quite easy tbh..
2 - Look on the boot catch, the lower part that the boot 'clicks' onto, there's a bar through the middle, wrap some electrical tape around it, the black plasic bit on it breaks, snaps, or just fails after a while.. Put quite abit of black electrical tape on it until it stops vibrating
3 - Cant help with that one sorry never had that problem.

So problem one does sound like the fuse then? Good stuff - will look at that later on.
My friend did try putting some tape round the catch but its still rattling like hell. It almosts "squeeks" when I've come off a bump in the road...I did worry that it was maybe the suspension but it definately comes from the boot. My Mum sat in the back of the car and held the boot whilst I drove and it stopped.
And as for the fuel gauge, yup needle moves, light works as it comes on and off when required, it just runs out at 1/4 of a tank! Not a massive problem but pretty confusing sometimes!

you could always wait till the light comes on, pull the needle out and push it back in just before the red line?

1) Put a full tank of petrol in.
2) You need to pull apart the dial cluster, it's pretty easy to do (I think there is a guide on here somewhere).
3) You then pull the needle towards you slightly, but don't pull it off.
4) Turn the needle to where it needs to be.
5) Turn off ignition and turn back on again.
If it goes to the right place, put everything back together. If not, repeat steps 3,4,5.
