For the last week or so i've notcied a squeaking noise from under the bonnet when driving, it usually the worst in the mornings when I travel to college but after 20minutes or so of driving I don't really hear it, it sounds a lot like the timing belt squeaking, but im no mechanic so thus non-the-wiser ! any help? Very Happy

Aux belt?

This drives the alternator air/con and power steering pump.

Is it worse when turning the steering wheel when stationary or on full-lock?

P.S. If the timing-belt slipped you'd know about it in no uncertain terms.

Auxiliary belt tensioner most likely.

I don't notice any difference but i'll have a check later on, just been out now and i noticed no noise at all!

Might be the auto adjuster as Chris said, or the deflection or other pulley.
Or the belt itself might be worn.
Could still be this even if steering makes no difference.
