So I'm insured on a Golf GTI now and couldn't believe the difference in how heavier the steering feels on a Peugeot 206. Turning sharp bends and a turn in the round is much hassle and not very easy... is this with all peugeot 206s' ?

my steering in the 180 is really heavy compared to other cars, e.g VW's & Vauxhalls

Nothing wrong with a bit of weight to the steering it gives more feel.

206 power steering is generally heavier than most other cars i've driven... but i like it, same reason i like my hard suspension, more feeling when you drive!

Dont under stand your question here?
Are you saying the 206 has heavy steering or the Golf? If the Golf how old is it does? Does its have power steering?
The 206 has a nice feedback on the steering I feel but I wouldnt say it was heavy at all. If yours is have you checked you tyre pressures, power steering fluid? If these are low or incorrect they will effect the feeling of the steering.

Well I doubt it's the tyres as I had recent hydraulic inflation on all 4.
I am sure my steering is heavier than it should be.. could anything else contribute to this apart from the power steering fluid and tyres? I'll get this checked.

Fit the Astra power steering pump....and the 205 reservoir.... cures the problem if you need fast steering

I have left it for a bit but feels like the problem is getting worse, I'm more unable to do parallel parking smoothly and it is a greater hassle now turning with one hand. I want to try avoid getting new pump (unless it's the only way), how can I check the power steering fluid and how is it topped up?

Yes I need two hands to turn especially after 45 degrees, more heavier.
