well as title says on saturday/sunday while the car was parked at my girlfriends house her neighbour managed to reverse out of his drive across the street and straight into my poor innocent passenger door!
He knocked straight away and such and exchanged details but i felt it was more safe to have to car checked over by time served mechanic family friend and see if anything other then the door had been damaged.
luckily other then a slight tracking adjustment the car is fine. and i have ordered a new door from hanpug25 from another Gti180 luckily in the same colour. my question is really what sort of hassle will changing over a door present? i know the locks will need to be changed is that an easy task? also what else will need to be done?

Lock barrel for your key obviously and yes it's pretty straight forward. Unless the wiring is different (why would it be?) then no nothing else except the obvious like mirrors and door cards.

If it is defo just the door its damaged it should be quite a easy job! So yeah Window, Mirrors and Speaker wiring but just watch what your doing when taking it off then just repeat the process!

Tracking Adjustment? Caused by him? You can't "knock" the tracking out. It has bent something, ether the wishbone or the track rod. Its very hard to tell if the wishbones are bent or not but if its not the track rod it will be that. I went up a kerb with a a bit too much force and bent a wishbone; after a few months it has shagged the bushes.

there is a thin u shape bit of metal around the lock barel againt the door. Just use a flat head screwdriver to slide it away from the lock and it will fall off the door. Couldnt.be easier mate

yea it was a track rod end. its been sorted now tho i never used the term "knock" or said he had knocked my tracking out i said there was a slight adjustment to the tracking to get it fixed that being having a new Track rod end fitted. so thats simple enough, just need to wait on hanpug to send it on its way

That good anyway. Just making sure because a lot of people seem to think that after and impact the tracking can just be realigned and thats it.
