Hi everyone, am new here as well as a new owner of a used 206 2001 model. When driving just now I hear a strange sound - just like the sound of a flat battery signal on an old Nokia phone. Thought it was mobile battery going flat but the sound came from under the steering wheel. It came on at around 30s intervals. When I stopped the car and switched off the engine, the sound is still there. But when I opened the passenger door, another sound was emitted. Help me!!

Does the STOP light flash under the speedo?

Have you made sure all the doors/boot are closed?

is it the same sound you hear when you open your door with the lights and engine off, but the key still in the barrel? that sounds just like an old nokia phone going flat?
Please Dont take any of my posts as written fact. They are simply my opinion and although to the best of my knowledge true, the information within them may well be incorrect.

Any work you undertake as a result of my posts is done so at your own risk Smile

The car wasnt low on fuel was it? lol..

You get beeps for:
- Low Fuel (Along with the fuel low light)
- Door Ajar Warning (Not Closed Properly, This also flashes the interior light)
- Handbrake On While Driving (Check the instrument panel for the brake light)
- Keys left in the ignition with the engine OFF and door open (quite a rapid beep)
- Boot Ajar Warning (I believe, never tested it)
- Lights left ON with the engine OFF and door open

I think it also beeps for some engine problems ect, this is usually accompanied with the STOP light on the instrument panel.

Please note: This isnt a full list, it's just the ones I can remember.

The Cars:
VW Golf Mk7 1.6 Derv '13 Plate - The Daily
Peugeot 206 1.1 Zest 3 '05 Plate - Project Car
BMW E46 320CD MSport '54 Plate - The Toy
Peugeot 206 1.6 HDi GTi '06 Plate - O/H's Car

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your replies. No to all your suggestions. Enough fuel - just topped up before that, handbrake down properly (instrument panel - indicator for brake light off) doors are all closed properly otherwise the interior light would have gone on, no STOP light below the speedo, boot is locked otherwise the car would not be able to be locked using the auto-lock right? Oh yes, I noticed that the rear door is rattling right about the time this annoying sound came on. Oh yes, this annoying sound was on the whole night through!

Thanks for all the suggestions. What happened was I left the radio on with the volume very low and the noise was coming from the speakers in the rear door. The car beeped at me because of that Smile
