hey all, I had my cambelt changed today with pullys and waterpump etc.

2001 (Y) reg 1.4 8v

on the way home I noticed that it sounds as if the belt is rubbing on something, and after a 50mph section there was a rubbery burning smell.

im going back to the garage tomorrow morning,

anyone know what its most likely to be rubbing on or could it be that its over tensioned??

Thanks

EDIT: to further its a kind of "swish swish swish swish" noise

The cover is in two sections and if not replaced properly it will rub on the belt.

The garage had the car back today (its owned by friends so they shouldnt rip us off)

they striped it all down again and put everything back on being extra careful but it still makes the noise. they assured me its all fitted correctly and that its just the new tensioners/belt bedding in etc. They assured me 100% that its correct and said it was guarenteed.

Not much more I can do haha.

Sounds strange though.. I never had any different noises after mine was replaced.

At least you have it guaranteed though!
