How easy/hard is it? I'm interested in the coolant more than anything

I've been quoted £99 (level 1) or £189 (level 2) for a service which is basically changing oil, air filter, spark plugs, then topping up coolant and brake fluid etc. I imagine having new coolant would cost more. I changed my oil only recently and I can put a new air filter myself really, spark plugs wont need doing. The brake fluid is on the minimum bar, do I need a specific grade to top up with?

My expansion tank is like this (ignore the drawn on green bits) the radiator is tiny I know, just the way this TU3 variant is

Yet this 1.4 with the same engine as mine has a clean looking green coolant in the expansion tank

Should I change the coolant? If so what tools will I need and how hard is it?

I hate to ask questions but I did a search on changing coolant on here and all the pictures are expired Sad

Thanks

My tank looks like yours, any nearly every 206 I've ever seen does too lol, they go quite crappy looking tbf, The green one also looks over-filled to me.

Anyway, the green one probably had a recent change, so the colour is still fresh as it hasnt been around the system much.

Just check the coolent level with a tester, if it's got the right mix in I cant really see the colour been too much of a problem.

Its just like in the picture of my engine bay at the top, the bottle is murky and the coolant is brown, but the car runs nicely so I wouldn't imagine any head gasket failure

Cheers Ste, I'll get a little tester then Smile Is there a specific grade brake fluid I need to use when I top up?

cost me £90 to do everything on my hdi; new oil, new oil filter, new coolant, new brake oil, new fuel filter, bottle of redex, new gear box oil, new air filter, new pollen filter. runs smooth as new now, and not that it matters knocked 1.4 seconds off my 0-60mph Wink

Yep same 'induction kit' at the 16v 1.4 Smile Very interesting that its fly by wire, were the JPs different?

And yeah thats what I thought, I can save my money doing it myself and then only have to pay them for the big stuff like cambelt etc

I had a look at the coolant today too, with one of those testers. I think mine was faulty though because it didn't have a 'float' in it like the package said it should

Nonetheless the coolant is green, its just the bottle that is discoloured thats all. No mayo on the oil cap so it's all good

Just a nice paper filter will do for the time being

Is there anything I should look out for with fly-by-wire?
