Hi Guys,
My engine has a constant ticking coming from the rocker. One of my mates has said that its the things that the cams push down are a bit warn?

Would that sound about right?

If so, is it an expensive job? I want to get my car back to sounding sweet, and hopefully get the power back it came with.

All I need to do is give it a service and sort this ticking, and it should be right as rain Smile

Any help would be much appreciated.

yes they are. hyraulic lifter aren't cheap. and you will have to renew the whole set each time. 8 for 8v and 16 for 16v

but just to make sure you oil is good and is enough

More to the point though, I used Wynns Valve lifter concentrate and it quietened it down a bit.

My oil is about half on the dipstick, so it does need a bit more, but that'll get done with the service.

If the service doesnt help that much, does the valve lifter go in with the oil?

Valve lifter concentrate just gets added in with the oil Smile

Im not sure Rob, I think its witchcraft Wink

So your saying dont use it as everything I need is in the oil?

i never used any oil additive or fuel additive.

however, many people like to add redex or what so ever in their oil or petrol frequently, you just can't ignore the placebo effect. Laughing

Laughing This is the first car where Ive had to worry about things and i havent got a clue!

I wont be putting any additives in at least until the service is done.

I know you said the valve lifters can be expensive, but dont suppose you know a rough figure?
