i was just surfing some car ads and found a gti with really low km's and was attracted to it by the price also. im thinking really hard what could be possibly wrong with the car.
assuming the engine work is all good. im just worried im buying a car that has probably ran 3 to 4 times more distance than the odometer would state. im naive to believe its not possible merely because its digital. if the previous owner or dealer changed the whole speedometer does the mileage change too?
excited but dont wanna get excited for nothing
thanks for reading

I'm sure the milage is stored on the ecu and the speedo, and it will show which ever one is the highest if one is changed

you can,
or you can just swap the odometers with a lower milage one (preplex)
and i won't never be attracted by a car with extra lower milage. low milage normal mean sunday driver/ lots of short journey. This never do any good to the engine.

AFAIK you'd have to do a full change to mess with the mileage (ECU / BSI / cluster all out of a lower mileage doner car, may have to change the full lump too). Previous MOTs not available online down under to verify mileage?

its a gti180. whats more i could rid my gti here and go upstate just to get it.
car price varies in different states and if all goes well i could have spare change in my pocket after that.
just afraid to get it only to find out later, oh it has been tampered with.

Just thinking if it aint that old and has reasonable milage, might have been used as a weekend car like mine does

Edit doesn't matter. Got sold. Saw another.
Another question. There's some dents like significantly sized ones at the rear below the fuel cover. Is that part of the body expensive to repair? Looks like a trolley hit it
