Hello,

When our 206 (03 plate 1.4) starts to get hot you can hear a cooling fan kick in, however when looking at the front of the car the fan you can see through the front grille is not moving. It appears to take a long while for the car too cool back down to 90 degrees.

I read that these cars have 2 fan speeds and that when the needle is approaching the red it puts the fans on full. I also read that the vehicle has 2 fans, my query is that when the low speed is triggered shouldn't both fans be switched on?

Thanks,

Kevin

the slow fan normally comes on around 93, to take it back to 90. fast fan comes on when closer to the red.

Is there any way to make the fan cut in closer to the 90 mark? I imagine the next line on the dial must represent 95 which is a little hotter than when should be cutting in.

Unless your needle starts hitting red, I wouldnt panic, its quite normal to run at 90 plus.

Probably not. I would think thats in the code of the ECU on what temp the fan cuts in. I didnt say exactly 93 so there or there about. As long as it takes it back down to 90ish it should be fine.

But you say that you cant even see the fan turning so does the low speed fan not work at all? might need to check relays/connections/resistor if so.

I can hear a fan whiring sound but the one you can see through the front grille is not moving.

I assume there are 2 fans?

possibly the fan motor is spinning but not turning the fan blades .
with the ignition off see if you can feel resistance when turning the fan blades with a finger if no resistance the blades are disconnected from the motor

if you can\'t fix it with a hammer your problem\'s electrical
