hi guys, decided to get a quote from a peugot dealer for a cambelt change and service.

they quoted me 500 quid all in and that includes changing the auxilary belt but not the water pump, they said they will check the water pump but if its not leaking and does not have any residue on it then there would be no sense in changing it.

199.00 for 3+ service which includes oil change etc, sparks, diagnostics, road test, full health check etc etc

299.00 for cambelt change and aux belt change

they will supply courtesy car free as well for the day as it will take them 6 hours, i have a 2.0l gti 138bhp thats on an 02 plate with 72k and a full service history.

is it worth the quote??? let me know please. Shocked

Shop around. Dealers are always more expensive. Get a few quotes from different garages and compare them. You will be surprised at the difference. The only reason I would pay that price is for the dealers stamp on the FSH. But even then you have to think will it be worth it when you sell the car.

Thats too expensive, steer clear of the dealers. I got my cambelt and waterpump done for less then £300. It really is worth getting some other quotes, peugeot wont give you any better service then an independant garage.

The reason the waterpump is changed along with the belt is because if it seizes it can make the cambelt jump off or snap, its a preventative measure. for the sake of the minimal extra cost get it done.

Think about it, its the same as when you change the cambelt: you always do the pullys/tensioners etc even though the old ones may be perfectly fine at the present time...

Please Dont take any of my posts as written fact. They are simply my opinion and although to the best of my knowledge true, the information within them may well be incorrect.

Any work you undertake as a result of my posts is done so at your own risk Smile

Checkout www.buypartsby.co.uk for the cambelt kit and water pump. They do the continental ones. Very good prices

guys it may be well cheaper as you say but i have shopped around it appears a 2.0l gti is not as cheap as doing a 1.4lx and all the independents come in at 40 quid cheaper than the main dealer so for the sake of 40 quid ill just get pug to do it
