Hey everyone , need a bit of help my rear suspension is really soft, I know its the torsion bars on the rear, I have already put uprated shocks on the rear,this did not seem to help but this did not seem to help, is there anyway I can adjust the rear setup to get more torsion out of the bars or shall I get uprated bars thanks

I think its the torsion bar that needs doing, I have uprated ones and its stiff as hell!

cheers buddy , i have lowered the car, but im not sure how to get the torsion bars completely out any ideas?

You can shocks that are rock solid you really don't need uprated torsion bars for road use. Just get some stiffer shocks.

Completely and utterly incorrect. Dampers and torsion bars (springs) do different jobs and you can't increase the rate of one to make up for a shortcoming with the other.
Dampers don't reduce bodyroll, they don't decrease lift at the rear under braking. Uprated springs/torsion bars can achieve these things.

That was completely going off the point, I'm assuming the OP wanted to use it just for road use and going mainly on the statement 'I fitted aftermarket shocks and it didn't make a difference'
If you fitted new shocks and you didn't notice the difference between them and oem I think it's logical to invest in different shocks, not go onto torsion bars.
Keeping it nice and simple, not getting into an engineering debate.

Okay cheers guys what shocks do you have that are rock solid , what are they called? As I've already got uprated ones on the back and it made no difference ?

or drop the rear and let it sit on the bump stop. then the rear will be rock solid hard

Try for a start uprate your ARB with the GTi 180 ARB, that made a huge differece on my car.
The rear suspension became stiffer in corners, and it reduced bodyroll.
It was a big difference and very noticeable even on my old shocks.

But an antil roll bar doesn't reduce vertical movement in any way.

i must say i put on some rear shocks that came with my coilovers and the rear end was defiantly harder,

Yeah I've got coilovers and have got the shocks that came with them on the back but there is hardly any difference? Where could I get the gti 180 torsion bars then?
