Will be heatsoaking and slowing the car down due to sucking warm air in.

Just buy some K&N air filter cleaner

I read from a cotton green induction kit book at work that for every 10'c of cold air you can drop that passes through the induction kit tha you gain 1bhp so basically if your air filter is exposed to your engine then it's going to be sucking in some mega hot air and therefore losing bhp consequently slowing your car down.

So Do I Do Away With It Or Do I Re-Route ? Any Other Ideas ?

You either should remove it and fit a cold air intake one [more expensive] or fit the standard and a panel filter

Think its called Green Cotton Forced Induction

Standard set up is the best and cheapest in the long run

Something along these lines.
As you don't have a enclosed kit you will need to make this a ram air feed. This means having it generally n the grill of the car so when you drive you are forcing air down the pipe to your air filter keeping it cool and allowing it to in colder air.
An enclosed kit will have this attached to the filter and I believe (I read on here a while back) that scientifically the best place to draw air was behind the passenger fog so I have my feed located down there . Apparently you don't want a ram air feed in an enclosed kit as you force to much air to it overloading it.
It's good for you though as you have an open and exposed air filter so its like giving your air filter air con Smile
