If you are checking the fuses, take each one out in turn and check with a continuity tester. Don't rely on just looking at them by eye.

If the ignition switch was faulty then more than likely you wouldn't even get the engine turning over.

Have you checked the battery with a multimeter to make sure that it's hasn't burnt a cell out.

im going to try the ignition switch first see if that solves anything, should be able to have that done in a few days, if it doesnt fix it i will know what the problem is.

my first guess would be gearbox earth.

Ive seen a 206 with a battery on it in a scrappy with no windscreen and all the electrics wet doing all these random relay clicks and not much else working. maybe water seeing as its raining?

im in gateshead @ lobley hill.

just had my next door neighber round who is a mechanic and he doesnt think its the ignition switch OR the ECU as its cranking perfectly fine and the fact that its smoking from behind the wheel is basically leading us to the source/start or the problem.

he thinks it will either be the chip reader or the err oh what was it... the ring for the airbag or somthing?? we going to strip it down tomorow and find exactly where the smoke is coming from.

tried it again there and it smoked again, with the key on the 1st notch (battery light on) when you turn the sidelights on it just about kills all the power, fuel needle stops working, the sidelight warning light on the dash is very dim, the clock display goes off etc.

bloody sick i am!!

Earth strap.

The relays clicking will be from the poor connection not giving enough power.

earth strap where though?? there must be hundreds of them!

the relays have actually stopped clicking now and when you try somthing like the wipers or lights it either doesnt work, kills the poker to everything else or works but not fully :S

what would explain the smoke though??

wish it was just somthing simple as i really need to car for monday morning lol
