Hey all,
I need to access the wiring directly behind the cigarette lighter, can this be done without taking the entire centre piece off? (the plastic piece around the gearstick and handbrake etc)
Ive taken the gaiter off and had a look but I cant see any wiring for it, the end of the cigarette lighter plug seems to be wedged against the carpet.
Does the cigarette lighter pull out of its socket? can it be levered out?
Thanks in advance for any help

Take the whole centre consol out, Have to slacken the handbrake and move it back a bit for the consol to come out.
The lighter then comes out in one piece attached to the consol.
To split the lighter there's a philips screw in the bottom of the lighter.
Word of warning, i did mine 2 months ago after putting everything back i shorted the bulb part of it and did damage to my bsm and bsi.
I've done 2 posts recently, SIDE/TAIL LIGHTS and FUEL PUMP
All this damage was caused by the bulb lighter.

yeah there's not alot of "slack" in the wires as they are all twisted togeather but i did manage to un-twist them enough to do what i had to do mate

I went to a scrappy today to get another part and took the oppertunity to pull the cigarette lighter out to see what was behind it, oddly enough it just pulled out, real easy lol.
there's a small grey, large pink and large yellow/green wire attatched to the bottom of it.
Im guessing pink is positive and yellow/green is earth, can anyone confirm this?
Yeh, I know about not being any slack, ive never worked on a car worse for skimping on slack wire lol. My ford fiesta was no where near as bad. You think for the sake of it they would just leave one or 2 cm more lol

Large pink = +
Green / Yellow = -
Grey is the + for the bulb.
