Hi all, thinking of ditching my GTI-6 and joining the 206 club.

Currently doing 300 miles/week and its costing far too much having fun on the way to work.

Cant decide between the 1.4 HDi or the 2.0 HDi. Hope you guys can help me decide Very Happy

Running costs are key here as its 100% for commuting, but I'd happily choose the 2.0 if it was not significantly more expensive.

(Hope you can help me justify the 2.0) Twisted Evil

The 2.0 goes well, does decent MPG as well, I'd go with that one!
Don't argue the opinions of idiots.
They will bring you down to their level and win through experience.

As above the 2.0 will be fine, and some of the 2.0 are only £30 a year tax

dont suppose you know which ones? Some I've been looking at just say cheap tax, and I know a friend of mine pays about the same as my brothers 1.4 petrol.

1.6 hdi! (Kidding) 1.4 hdi will always cost less to run, if you find it a lil slow then remap it and itll be the same/slightly more powerful then a standard 2.0

Think it's the 2.0hdi with the Eco gearbox iirc.

Don't get the 1.4hdi it's too slow. Even though tax is only £30 p/a.

I'd get the 2.0 because it has good economy and is pretty quick, well the one ice been in was (Lee's)

1.4 hdi cheap as chips to run! £30 a year tax, cheap insurance and i can squeaze 600 miles on a full tank. (motorway between 80-85mph). power isnt great, it does the job but you can change that with a remap.

i'm sure the 2.0 hdi's with the green 'i' on the badge are meant to be the eco ones, apparently they top out like a gti (130ish) because of the longer final drive with a good remap.

plus the 2.0 engine is bulletproof if serviced right, best hdi engine out there Smile

2.0HDi can never beat 1.4HDi on mpg.

general speaking you will have around 55 +/- 5 mpg on 2.0HDi,

but for 1.4HDi you can easily get over 65mpg, some member on here got over 70mpg on it.

thats why i said apparently, would love to get a hold of an eco gearbox or a final drive to try it.. would more than likely take ages though.
My normal hdi made it to 115 and was still pulling.... i do not condone such acts btw lol
