Hi there, wanting to fit a cigarrete lighter but im assuming the whole centre console must come out, easy enough to take out? also i read something about the bsi faults, does this only apply to the 'bulb' (coloured ring surround) so if i had one without the bulb it wouldnt affect it? always better to be safe than sorry in know though.

Also does the switches for the windows and mirrors just pop out to disconnect them?
I dont really want to go pulling at things and breaking them.

Pull up the gaiter/surround of the gear stick and you can then put your hand in under where the lighter unit is and pop the old one out for replacement (if there is one, if not then doing this will simply make getting to the wiring much easier). Two small clips hold the unit in so a gentle squeeze and push should pop it out. Then simply disconnect the wiring, replace the unit and pop it back in.

The switches for the electric windows and mirrors just prises out, get a flathead screwdriver into the small gap and twist... CAREFULLY!

The switches just pop back in after i take it so then i definately have to take them out? cant just unclip them like the connection on the lighter? Don't have a clue about the wiring under there.

From what I remember yes, the switch panel pops out and clicks back into place, but it is connected to wires so be careful when taking the switch unit out. There is a clip and the top and bottom IIRC that you will unclip when you put something flat in at the top to prise the unit out.

This is how it is on my Style that doesn't have electric mirrors only electric windows, but I believe it's the same for the LX models just that there are extra controls for the mirrors also on the panel. Maybe someone with an LX or who knows for definite would confirm but I imagine it is the same.
