I am refusing to pay for a garage to service my car this year bearing in mind I can get Oil Filter, Cabin Filter, Fuel Filter, Oil etc for £90.

First Question:
The Fuel Filter is £30+ quid, how often do these need changing? I'm wondering if its something I can leave out.

Last Question (for now):
already answered by a quick search (http://206info.co.uk/Forums/viewtopic/t=3761/highlight=service+counter.html)

Thanks in advance.

I have a 2005, 1.4hdi for everyday use & for a bit of fun a 1999 Suzuki Bandit 600

fuel filter in a black container in the engine bay.

90 quid for a self service is a lot of money.

Oil is £30 - Fuel filter alone is £36 (hence looking to leave it out)

Don't worry about the fuel filter, if it doesn't have fuel problems, forget it.

£22 for oil, £7 oil filter, £10 spark plugs, £12 air filter, ~£55 and you're sorted.

I just pick my stuff up for halfords, admittedly that was trade prices as I've got a trade card, see if someone local to you has one and it'll save you heap loads. Batteries cost me about £35 instead of £60.

no need to change glow plug unless you can't start the car in winter.

oil from ebay or www.nielsencdg.co.uk; as cheap as chips, around 22-25 for 5L of oil.

pug dealer oil filter from ebay. normally around 7 quid.

i wash my air filter and just give the cabin filter a blow.

so yeah, under 30 quid for a quick serivice.

Trade at halfords still works out cheaper I think.
