advice please i have 205/45/16 on my pug gti will it make much difference if i fit 205/50/16

Yep. Will catch on full lock and if your is lowered you'll be catching on the back arches.

Your (her) tires will be catching the wheel arches, or your turn radius will be reducted because of the bigger tire not being able to turn completely into the front arches.
