done a search and havent come across a similar thing but just wondering if my engine had too much oil in it, and then the car told me about it 3 weeks later that it had too much oil in it after an oil change by flashing on the first click on the ignition , and then the engine light comes on, and then i drain my oil out so it stops flashing and now says that the oil level is perfect, but the engine light is still on ....... what could be the cause of this???

Its the EML, go and get the codes read.
Never bother using the oil level gauge on a 206 anyway, its crap.

so you changed the oil and put too much oil in? The engine managment light comes on and you get notification of too much oil...drain oil ....oil level light goes out but eml is still on?
i would say that it probably needs code reading and clearing unless there is another underlying fault.

Ha is that all, my oil level indicator can flash on the 1st ignition click because there's too much oil or show 2 squares because its nearly empty, all this over a period of 3 days. The car is parked on level ground so I never know whether to drain or add oil so I just leave it. I cant trust the dipstick either as that shows the sump is full even when I push it half way into the tube. Basically the 206 oil level indication system is utter rubbish !!!!!

Use the dip stick to check the oil level. It's more accurate than the dash gauge. If the dipstick is showing that the engine is full of oil when you push it half way down the tube, then you either have too much oil, a filthy tube or you aren't checking your oil properly.
Get the codes read and cleared.
Can't tell you how much oil you needed in the first place as I have no idea what model of 206 you drive.
Dependant on the model it would take between 3.2 and 5.3 litres, that's if you changed the oil filter at the same time.

The multiplexed ones are just fine IF you have a later BSI sofware version installed
